Hello! I'm Megan, a full-stack software engineer based in NYC with a background in marketing and quality assurance.
In college, I received a minor in web programming and applications, and I found that I have a passion for learning new technologies and platforms. To continue to pursue my passion for tech, I got a job in quality assurance at a marketing tech company, where I got exposure to what it’s like being a part of an agile team in a product development organization. Although I enjoyed my job, I found that I still wanted to work more closely with code, which is why I decided to pursue a career in software engineering. I enrolled in Fullstack Academy's full-time immersive software engineering program and am now working as a Software Engineering Teaching Fellow at The Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy. Upon completion of the fellowship, I'm looking for a full-stack software engineering position in a collaborative work environment, where I can use my skills to make a big impact while continuing to learn and grow from my peers.
Here's a few technologies I've been working with recently:
SoleMate is a fitness based social media app that leverages geolocation technology to match users with runners in their area. Users are able to message and request runs with people they've matched with, generate customized routes, and track running info in real-time. When users aren't on the app, SoleMate alerts them to incoming requests and messages via push notifications.
An Electron app that projects how long cash and 401k savings will last after retirement. Users input information about themselves, such as income, spending habits, desired retirement age, etc., in order to generate a graph of their savings over time. Retire Rich also allows users to download a PDF of their projected savings.
An e-commerce site for selling yachts. Yachts Don't Stop utlizes the technologies listed below to allow users or guests to create carts, continue shiopping, edit their carts, and checkout. Yachts Don't Stop also takes care of inventory management, ensuring that any price changes are represented in a user's cart until the time of purchase, and that no out-of-stock products are listed as available.
The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication's academically rigorous Bachelor of Science degree is grounded in the liberal arts, providing students with the necessary tools to understand the sociological, political, and cultural aspects of media and technology.
GPA: 3.9 / 4.0
If you want to collaborate on any web or mobile applications, please feel free to reach out.
I'm available for freelance projects and full-time employment.
